Beginning Teacher PLC #4

It's another month and time to learn, collaborate, share, and grow together!  Beginning Teacher PLC will take place on Thursday, November 21 from 3:00-5:00.  Central District North will be learning about the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Math.  Hope to see you there!!!!

Pilot!!!

Three mentors from Central District North will be piloting the New Teacher Center Co-Assessment with their Beginning Teachers.  We participated in a web conference today and are eager to start!  Technology is amazing!!!

We know that everyone is busy with Parent Conferences but if you're available we'll be holding a Beginning Teacher Professional Learning Community today.  The North Side will be concentrating on Classroom Management and the South Side will be concentrating on Parent Communication.

A few reminders for our Awesome Central Disrtict Mentors!!!

• Pilot Opportunity: If you are still interested in trying out the Co-Assessment piece this year please let me know.  We are still waiting for training dates.  If you have no idea what I am talking about see the Lotus Notes I sent you on 10/2/2013  
• Coaching Complex Situations:  10/21/13 @ 8:00 Mililani Uka Elementary School sign up on PDE3:  Course:  167462 Section: 248995 please bring a lunch and your own snacks.
• Mentoring Log: You should now be in Quarter 2.  Please let me know if your lists need to be revised.  You only have 30 days from 10/4 to add any contact hours to 1st quarter. Once you have input your contact you may want to download and save the file as a pdf as well as print out a copy for yourself to file into your Portfolio.  You may also share with your Principal and Beginning Teachers.

• Mentor Coaching:  I would like to begin to schedule meetings with each of you or your School Mentoring Teams to talk about how things are going at the school level and how the District and State can support you.  Please send me a couple of dates and times we can sit down and meet to talk informally about the challenges and successes you are facing.
• If you have missed any of the New Teacher Center Trainings and need to make them up the State will be holding make-ups in January & February.  These are for the entire state so please sign up on PDE3 as soon as possible to reserve a seat.  Trainings are held at the New Teacher Center Hawaii at Kaimuki Middle School.  Please remember per I & M Standards you need to be trained in each of the modules to complete Program Requirements.
